Poem: Hide and Seek

I first encountered
your existence,
'Under the Stairs',
I was able to sense,
and please don't ask me how,
a person hiding inside herself.
Layers of protective weight.
That night I saw the pain,
in your eyes,
'the mirror of your soul.'
And now,
after years of self-exile,
in my solitude,
hiding inside myself,
learning to feel again,
I became a newborn,
craving for attention.
I need you to understand,
I need you to forgive.
